The wood frame of the chairs is a dark oak finish. the existing chair fabric is brownish tone. My dinning room walls are a light sage green color. I just don't like the darkness in the brown tones of the existing fabric. I would like something lighter. I have wooden floors underneath, with a light oak finish. What can you recommend? How about design? Bold designs? Subtle designs? Solid color?
What tips can you share regarding reupholstering dinning room chairs?
If room is quite dark , something bold like cream and fushia or cream %26amp; burnished orange , this would add warmth %26amp; work with dark / light wood,or if you have aSouth facing room, colbalt blue / deepest purple %26amp; cream would work well. Would keep the design in big floral print.
Add ornament of same colour, brings the room together.
If doing yourself, keep the old material and use as template, add at least extra couple inches all round before endeavouring to fix yourself, excess can be easily removed after insitu .
Reply:I just told my daughter how to do this and suggested using a tablecloth. She found the biggest one she could find and used it on all the chairs. Take off the seat and measure around. My daughter is now deciding if she want to have a matching tablecloth. The best news was it's cheap and she can do it again and again if she wants. Good luck!
