Sage cooking spiece, does any body else in yalls family use to much in turkey and dressing?

Who ever decided Sage tastes good. I hate the stuff. I ruins everything it is added to.

Try a pinch of tarragon.
Reply:Not to my knowledge, if anything nobody else ever uses enough! I use both dried and a handful of fresh chopped sage in my stuffing and turkey. I think fresh sage is really tame so you need a lot.
Reply:You have to be from "down south". Me too. I use a small amt. sage and add thyme %26amp; marjoram to my dressing. It kicks that cornbread up a notch without overwhelming the whole thing.
Reply:no
Reply:I like sage in poultry, but sometimes it can get overwhelming.. a little goes a long way..

I remember once my uncle who never really cooked before, thought he was going to make dressing, he found "fresh" sage and thought you use more fresh herbs than you would dry.. He used a whole handful of the sage leaves.. WHEW! the dressing tasted like listerine mouthwash... poor guy!... lol
Reply:Oh boy!! I did......about 20 Thanksgivings ago, made dressing for the first time ever and added 3/4 can of McCormick rubbed Sage. It actually burned the throat after swallowing!!!!!! Yikes!
