Natural remedies for chest congestion and cough?

I have some massive chest congestion and a slight cough, otherwise no symptoms. I have some sage tea, but other than that, can anybody suggest some natural remedies to clear this up?

Natural remedies for chest congestion and cough?
For the cough and chest you can try any of these. Which ever best suits you ok.

1. Put half a teaspoon of licorice root tea in a cup of hot water, wait 10 minutes, strain and drink. Repeat 3 times daily.

2. Start now by taking vitamin C and Zinc tablets. Both support your immune system to fight off cold and infections. One of each a day.

3. Rub Vicks onto your chest and back at night to ease your cough and relax your breathing. You can also inhale vicks by putting two table spoons of vicks into a bowl of near boiling water. Stir the water till the vicks has disolved and then place a cloth or towel over your head and breathe in the vapours for 10 to 15 mintues.

4. Buy some herbal tea's of either Honey, Eucaluptus, or Peppermint.

5. Hot ginger tea is a popular home remedy for cold symptoms and sore throat. Honey and lemon can be also added.

6. You can also use Eucalyptus oil in the same way as vicks for inhaling.

7. A few drops of Eucalyptus oil in your bath and soak for 15mins breathing everything in helps.
Reply:Super steamy shower!
Reply:Sage dries up the mucous, whereas it might be better to get it out. Try mixing some thyme essential oil into olive or almond (any cooking oil will do , really) and rubbing it on your back and chest or just putting the essential oil in the bath. Or you could put it in a pot of boiling water and put your head a foot from the pot with a towel draped over you. Some good herb teas to move the stuff out would be thyme, elderberry/elderflower, ginger, lomatium, horehound, and osha root (osha is pretty powerful and root teas have to be prepared by boiling the root with the water. Leafy plant parts can just soak in already boiled water.
Reply:Tea is a natural antiseptic so is good for coughs etc. Honey is also good for chests and coughs. I'd suggest trying some eucaplyptus oil and putting a few drops on your pillow when you sleep - it will help clear the congestion as you breath it in.
Reply:Aniseed, Angelica root, Blood root, Coltsfoot, Comfrey root, Elecampane root, Flaxseed,Hyssop,Lobelia,

Lungwort,Mouse Ear,Mullein,Senega,Thyme,White horehound,are all good.

Speak to a qualified herbalist in your area - they are especially good at this type of thing with little or no side effects.

Myself I use general tea made from 1" stem ginger(cut into thin discs), 3tsp of peppermint 3tsp of hyssop,2 aniseed pods in a caffittiare with boiling water.

After 5 minutes, pour into a mug and add 1tsp of natural honey. Add juice of fresh 1/2 lemon, and 4 drops of Echinacea tincture.

Cures most bronchial problems within 3 days take up to 6 times a day - with water in between.
Reply:Medicinal essence of cinnamon is VERY good for this (can be hard to find) put about a teaspoon in a little warm water %26amp; sip. Breaks up the congestion.
Reply:Vix, You can buy the strips and but on your nose, or you can inhale it from the bottle - or, rub some on your chest. When you wake up in the morning, you'll already be feeling better!

1 - cup - onion, minced

1 - cup - ginger, minced

1 - cup - radish, minced

1 - cup - cayenne pepper

put the above ingredients in a wide mouthed glass jar then pour apple cider vinegar up to 1" above the mixture. Cover the glass jar (don't use metal cap). Keep in a cool place for 2 weeks but remember to shake the mixture once or twice a day. After 2 weeks, the liquid can be poured and stored in a glass bottle.

Take one tablespoon 2 to 3 times a day. If the congestion is really massive, you can take it every hour or every 2 hours.

Note: must not be taken in an empty stomach.

A similar formula, which my friend calls 'TSPlus', is very effective for asthma, enlarged heart, broncho pneumonia, sticky blood and high blood pressure. Unfortunately, he is very tight-lipped when it comes to the ingredients of this particular formula.
Reply:My favorite is half hour in the steam room with menthol water on the lava rocks. Breathe deep. Do this every day for 2 or 3 days. Severe chest colds rarely last after that.
