How Can I Get Grease Out of a Light Carpet?

We just had a light sage green carpet installed yesterday. My father, brain surgeon that he is, turned our office chair upside down and fiddled with the wheels on the carpet, and spilled some grease into the carpet. So we had it less than 3 hours and it was stained. We tried using some generic carpet cleaner on it, but now instead of one dark spot, we have a small area of slightly darker carpet. It's set overnight, but it wasn't vaccuumed. Does anyone have any tips for getting the rest of the stain out without damaging the carpet? If I can't get this out, I'm just going to cry :P

How Can I Get Grease Out of a Light Carpet?
i would try waterless hand cleaner like mechanice use. it washes out grease very well and doesn't fade anything. rub it on the spot, then take a damp washcloth with a LITTLE bit of dish soap on it, and rub it. follow with a clean wet washcloth. that should do it. i get my husbands tracked in oil from the garage off my beige carpet with no problem.
Reply:Try dawn dishwashing detergent. A small amount on the carpet with some water. Then if you have a shampooer, use it to rinse the carpet. Worked on mine, and it is ivory colored. Good Luck!
Reply:Hi I belive there is a special carpet clearner called Resolve carpet cleaner. Just go to I belvie any store and go to the cleaning section and look for "resolve" carpet cleaner. And look on the bottle to see if it fits your needs. I tried using it and it works.
Reply:I got help from this guide http://www.allhomerepairsyourself.com/be...

Reply:Cleaning solution, this solution was originally made for windows but it works wonders on tons of things including carpet.

Get a spray bottle, some household ammonia, and dawn dishwashing liquid, approx 10% ammonia, then about 4 - 6 drops of Dawn and top with water, give it a shake. Apply to the area and then brush it up and no more grease.

good luck.
Reply:Use Resolve Carpet Cleaner!
Reply:Try putting a small amount of lighter fliud on it let s mins. then wash off., using a damp white cloth and dabbing it. If that don't work try making a paste with baking soda and water . let that set for a few mins. then scrub.
Reply:Oohh nooo! thats such a shame, well try that vanish stuff...you know, the ones that they advertise...or my brother uses this car upholstry cleaner, it works a charm...ask a male in your family, they may know what i am talking about, its great - you just spray the foam and wipe away...

Hope it gets out
