What color of curtains should I buy?

I just moved into a brand new house. I have a big open area which includes the kitchen, breakfast area, and family room. My theme for my kitchen and breakfast area is coffee. I have plaid curtains, which include the colors brown, black, and ivory. In my family room, I have a dark sage couch, and my coffee table and end tables are black metal with earth-tone colored stones on top. I have one window in the family room. I would like to put a valance on that window...what color of curtain would go well in that room? Does it need to match the curtains hanging in the breakfast area?

What color of curtains should I buy?
Just pick one of the colors from your plaid curtain and then find a solid curtain to fix your window. If all of your furniture, wall paint, carpets.... are dark, then I would go with ivory or a lighter shade of black or brown. It also depends on how big your window is. If most of the wall is window then you might want to use one of the darker colors cause the window itself will brighten up the room. Just pick one of those colors and you should be fine. Good luck!!!
Reply:It doesnt have to match the color of the curtains in the breakfast area because you want a different theme for every room, but you should try to go with a light color to brighten up the room, but it still needs to match with the colors in the family room.
Reply:Some colours have negative effect.

Select only light colours in creem -pink- sky blue - white only as you have all dark colours which is a negative effect to get them nullified you must use light colours.

Light %26amp; Dark. makes a day.

All Dark not OK

Got it.
Reply:I would go with a solid and use one of the colors from the other plaid set - maybe ivory.
Reply:it don't need to match the breakfast room, but it do need to match what you have in the family room so any dark color would mostly go well with it. (mostly black)
Reply:i would use the same curtain or atleast one of the colors in the curtain.
Reply:I would carry the dark sage to the other room and put mocha window treatments in the family room.
Reply:be eclectic...go purple
Reply:Go with a deep red. By not making everything matchy-matchy you create separation between rooms.

Good luck!
