I bought brand new sage colored sheets in January, and launder them alone, or with other pillow cases. We have a new washing machine, also purchased in January, and have never used bleach in it. The more we wash them, however, the more it looks like there's bleach stains, almost like tye-die. Does anyone know what causes this, so the next time I get nice sheets like these, I can avoid this?
Why are there bleach stains on my sheets when I have never used bleach?
What do you use to wash your face? Do you use Proactiv or any other products that may have benzoyl peroxide in it?
That could discolor your linens.
Unfortunately, you can't do anything about the set that already has bleach marks on it, but you could start using a white pillowcase and try not to get the product on your bedding.
Reply:My guess would be that there is definately something wrong with your washer. either something is leaking in it or something is lose and spilling liquid so that everytime u run it it is doing this to your clothes. call the manufacturer of the washing machines and find out if they can come out and look at it and then call the store u bought your sheets from explain to them what has happened so they can process the info and can give u the proper steps to a refund...
Reply:That happened to me before and the only thing I could figure was that it was from my washer somehow. If your saying you never use bleach at all then have no idea. But if you do I always run the washer once empty after I do a load with bleach so there is none hanging around in there.
Reply:are you putting the detergent directly onto the sheets ? if not then it sounds like they werent color fast to start with and you could try dying them or start liking tie dye sheets.
Reply:Some soap products contain bleach like capabilities and I have had it happen when either the liquid soap has been poured directly onto the dry fabric or the powder has been undisolved before washing. I would suggest mixing your soap in a bucket of hot water and tipping that into the machine after it has filled with water and is immediately about to start agitating. This allows the soap to be distributed more evenly.
Reply:Do you use liquid fabric softner? B/c if you apply softner directly on clothing it will stain the fabric (I've also noticed whe I use the Downy ball (no offense Downy) I get more discoloration.
