"Vain, boastful talk repels acts of kindness
and tears the branch of mercy from the trunk of the tree.
Speak honestly or else be silent,
and then behold grace and delight in it."
How do you relate to this quote spiritually? "The fool argues, the wise discuss, the sage says nothing ..."
I dont personally relate it to spirituality, I relate it to respect. The fool has none, tried to convince others that his way is right, people are entitled to they're own opinions; the wise, respect others beliefs but still allow things to be discussed and the sage; he listens to what people say first before making his opinion.
Respect is something which quite a few people tend not to have especially of others opinions.
Reply:Those who argue are foolish: Untrue.
Those who discuss are wise: True, unless they're beating a dead horse.
Those who say nothing are wise: Sometimes true; sometimes they're just shy; perhaps they have no tongue.
Vain, boastful.....: Very true.
Reply:It's like saying that one should either be only hot or only cold and not lukewarm.
Reply:A better quote is from Gods Holy Bible; "With abundance of words a fool speaketh." Those who talk the most say the least.
This I believe; http://homelessheart.com/testimony.htm
