Sand, not too light and not too dark. I just replaced my berber (which I hate!) for a shaggy carpet called "Cashew". It's warm and not too light that it shows everything but not dark enough to be gloomy.

basic tan with small bits of various colors of any combination.
light shades appear dingy sooner.
dark shades show every paper scrap, fuzz on carpet.
Reply:I'd go with a light beige carpet. Bring a sample of the wall color to the rug store so that you know the rug is in a similar tone as the walls. There are beiges that have pink in them and you want to get something that has gold/yellow in it. What shade of brown are your walls? A good rug store will help you with picking the right color. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
