Growing Pineapple Sage?

I am currently growing pineapple sage in what I believe is zone 5a (Upstate New York), and it is now beginning to become cool. Can I transplant the plants indoors and replant them in the spring, and if I can do it where the plants will remain healthy, how do they grow under artificial UV lamps?

You can pot it and bring it in for winter, but you will need to find a sunny location for it. It will probably get leggy, but if you get it outside as soon as you can then it will fill back out.

Reply:I live in northern Indiana. My sage does great all winter long. I have mine in a container in the ground because it spread too much if you don't contain it.
Reply:Yes, you can put them in pots and bring them inside for the winter. A south facing window will do nicely. Water the pots well and then bring them inside.



Don't forget to water when they are almost dry.



Don't fertilize the first month or so. Then you can use 1/2 strength liquid fertilizer if you wish.
