Can you trim sage?

I have purple sage growing and it is getting HUGE (about 4ft in length already). The bees love it. But I need to get it to a more manageable size. Can I just trim back a foot or so and not kill the plant?

Can you trim sage?
yes and it benefits from pruning. We have 3 sage bushes and in autumn i trim them down to about three foot, by the end of the season they regualrily reach 6 foot
Reply:YES. It is a bush and will grow more at the cut locations (gets bushier). It is not like you cut the growing point off the top of a tree. After drying them, you can use the clippings for seasoning or aromatherapy.
Reply:Yes I have the same sage and I have trimmed it. this Russian sage is very hardy and will not die!

I have 4 plants now this year and love it!! Trim it as much as you wish, no problem.
Reply:By all means..trim it all you want. Sage is great to cook with and you could also dry alot of it and use in recipes.
