Do you enjoy the scent of freshly cut sage?

I love sage, cooking sage, all the salvia family. I cook with fresh sage, and I burn white, or ceremonial sage to cleanse my house, and burn sage and cedar incense. There is nothing like the smell of fresh sage.

And I grow them all, the annual and perennial salvias, as well as the culinary sages in all their varieties in my herb garden. I have a Mexican sage that is really pretty but it is not culinary.

You cook with Russian sage? That is not a salvia, it's perovskia, not in the same family. Didn't know it was edible.

We also sell sage bundles in our store, and sometimes customers come in after someone has burned some and they look really suspicious, but usually they don't say anything!

I have an herb garden with about 10 different herbs now that will survive the winter and I will add a few more this spring. My dog loves to walk through the herbs and smell, some times she just lays down right in the middle, and I let her. They are there for enjoyment, friends come over and pick if they want. My all time favorite is chocolate mint. I can even smell it in the dead of winter if I just rake the ground where it grows. I have pineapple sage, it is so great, second only to the chocolate mint. I freeze the leaves and put in baggies for winter soups and stews. So, YES, I enjoy sage!!
Reply:I love the smell and taste of fresh sage (the herb). I also have a Russian Sage bush and quite honestly, I really don't care for the smell of it. It is a beautiful bush and I love the blue/purple flowers. I do like sagebrush and I have made bundles of it to burn on occasion. It is said to be cleansing, not so much to smoke, but to burn. It does have a smell similar to mj.
Reply:along with sweet grass, too. After my wife died a Lodge Brother came over and we used sage to " cleanse " the house along with tobacco and other herbs. So happens our next door neighbor who was a lawyer delivered a piece of mail and when I opened the door the " smoke " rolled out the front door. need I say more ?
Reply:I love the smell of sage. It reminds me of childhood and the smell of my grandmother's delicious turkey dressing. She liberally put fresh chopped sage in the dressing, made it into flat pieces and cooked it in gravy - a huge pan full. See, the talk of the sage took me down memory lane. That was a good question.
Reply:Yes I love it. We also have sage incense. It is a very relaxing and healing smell
Reply:I worked in as the Staff Cook in a large hotel once and worked alongside the chefs chopping herbs ,It was the best Smell ever, Fresh herbs of any kind
Reply:I haven't smelled a good Christmas tree in 20 years, since we don't celebrate, but I needed some greenery for a flower arrangement, so I grabbed what was available. The smell!!!! Brought back some wonderful memories of my childhood (we celebrated then) and my daddy spending all day long playing with us whatever we wanted to do.
