Why is clary sage oil frowned on in pregnancy?

Is it cos it can take you in to labour? and is it safe after 37 weeks?

Why is clary sage oil frowned on in pregnancy?
Clary Sage is fine for pregnancy. What happened was a couple of boys in college took the womb out of a rat, turned it inside out and dropped clary sage oil on it and the womb contracted. It would have contracted if he put a drop of water on it. If he did they would have said water was bad for pregnancy. It go published and then believed. Clary Sage

I would use it only if I had a good quality oil like Young Living.

Clary sage is good for bronchitis, cholerterol, homonal imbalance, insomnia, intestinal cramps, PMS and weak digestion.
Reply:Clary sage is recommended for menopause. It is drying and cooling. It can be mildly estrogenic. Please don't use until after your baby is here. It can also dry up breast milk so avoid while you are nursing your baby.

There are no scientific studies reporting actual cases where either mother or fetus have been harmed while using essential oils (externally). However, during pregnancy, phytohormones are not needed and pose an unnecessary risk to the baby.
Reply:It can make you and your baby basically drunk, also a relaxant, could cause early labor.
Reply:clary sage has a mild hypnotic effect, it should be avoided because the people that make it know the dangers and well just stay on the safe side and avoid it during prenancy.
Reply:Clary Sage has an estrogen-like property. It should be avoided by women with a history of breast and ovarian cysts and tumors as well as pregnant and lactating women. Also, many oils negatively impact blood pressure which can be common issue in pregnancy. I think the main reason it is contraindicated, is that pregnancy is such a delicate hormonal business.

I'd just avoid usage for now. Stick with the fruit oils if you need to use one. Ginger is ok too.

Good luck and good health to you.
