What color should I paint my porch?

I am going to have sage green vinyl siding and white trim. The shutters will be black. I plan on painting the porch railing and posts white, but need a color for the stairs and porch floor. I was thinking grey or painting it all white. any suggestions?

I think painting gray for your stairs and porch would match with your other exterior colors and be more practical than white. White will look dirty a lot faster than gray will.
Reply:I would do it white if you don't mind the upkeep. White, unfortunately, just doesn't STAY white ... especially if you're walking on it.

Grey would be the better choice as far as hiding dirt and not showing the wear, but I'd be afraid it might look rather drab with the crisp white and black accents and the sage siding.

If you DO decide to go with grey, I think a darker grey-green would look nicer than a pale, washed-out grey. Maybe a color a few shades darker and a touch greyer than your siding? Just a thought!
Reply:If you paint it white you can save on electricity and still be able to see where you are stepping in the dark, or see a visitor without turning on the light.

and if you decide later to install traction pads they will be outlined in white for added safety. You never know when an elderly person will be glad you thought of them 1st.
Reply:Why not sage green same as the siding...it will blend in well with the house and will create good flow and feel of unity .....and then you can play around with dark iron ...or black accessories...and any color or mix - colors plants, flowers or outdoor chair cushions and pads...Create an oasis..
Reply:White, definitely!
Reply:you should've gotten a wood one, they're the prettiest ones :)
Reply:gray
